The red squiggly lines haunt you. That plot hole is looking more and more precarious. Your chapter structure is all over the place—and you swear you never put that diagram there!
The ‘Edit Me’ package is essential for authors who want to produce a quality product. Under this package, Spellbound offers a unique-to-market editing structure, with three enchanting editors working their magic on your manuscript. With a personal project manager overseeing these three edits, our authors only deal with a single point of contact throughout the process!
*Not including author revision / contemplation time
Editing a raw manuscript is like washing and polishing a rock pulled from the ground—we keep going until everyone can see the shining gemstone beneath the dust.
Getting started with your Edit Me package is spellbindingly simple! All you will need is to:
*The remaining 50% of the total fee only need be paid on successful delivery of the completed manuscript.
The Developmental Edit
The first stage of our three-part editing package, the developmental edit addresses concerns with your overarching story, or, for non-fiction, with your big-picture structure and ordering. Under this edit, you will receive:
Once the files have been submitted, simply work through any manuscript revisions at your own pace. Your project manager and the developmental editor will be on hand to discuss any concerns, queries, and look at options and rewrites as needed.
When both the author and the project manager are thrilled with the revised manuscript, then it is time for the copy edit!
The Copy Edit
Unlike the developmental edit, the copy edit isn’t focused on the story or structure, but on the line-by-line spelling, grammar, and syntax of the manuscript.
Depending on the author’s preferences, the copy editing stage may also include line editing. Line editing is more intensive and doesn’t simply focus on what is technically correct; the editor smooths out clunky or cliched language and offers suggestions on style, taking more initiative in the edit. This is an optional extra at no additional cost.
In either case, the author will receive:
After you receive the copy edited files, you’ll then have time to review the manuscript—and, as always, the project manager will be on hand for any queries, concerns, general advice, or friendly chats.
When the project manager receives the approved manuscript, they pass this on for the final stage!
For the final stage of the Edit Me package, a third, fresh-eyed editor proofreads your manuscript. This is a critical check to catch any lingering issues that may have slipped through and ensures consistency of all style choices and spelling throughout the manuscript.
Under this stage, you will receive:
Once the proofread files are returned, you have 10 days to look over the final files and implement any final amendments with the project manager. When the final manuscript is signed off, we then invoice the final 50% of the total bill.
Then you can get started on the self-publishing process, or begin submitting that magical manuscript to publishers!
A developmental editor will analyse your book, provide a complete Structural Report and produce comprehensive chapter-by-chapter recommendations for improvement.
A talented copy editor will perform a line-by-line edit, improving grammar, syntax, word choice and spelling. They will also eliminate repetition and flag any discrepancies.
A third editor will conduct a final edit of your print-ready and eBook-ready versions prior to publication.
* Price varies depending on length and design complexity of the manuscript.
